State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces that Tiara Hall was found guilty by a jury of Second-Degree Murder. With the verdict, Hall faces up to life in Florida State Prison. The Honorable London Kite will sentence Hall during a hearing to be set the week of Feb. 27, 2023.

On Nov. 29, 2021, officers with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office responded to a home on West 21st Street after receiving a call about a person being shot. Hall and the victim, a man whom she lived with and had a relationship, had argued — at times becoming physical — throughout the evening. Four hours after the violence ceased, the victim was asleep when Hall left the home with her gun to load it without waking the victim. She then returned to the home, aimed the gun at the victim as he slept, and shot him dead before calling police. There was a video camera inside the home that recorded the crime. Officers arrested Hall for the murder at the scene.

The case was investigated by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and was prosecuted by Assistant State
Attorneys Donna Thurson and Crystal Ganpath-Freed.
