State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces that Jerry Lee Jackson III was found guilty by a Clay County jury of Armed Robbery and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. The Honorable Steven Whittington has scheduled a sentencing hearing for the week of April 17, 2023.

On October 15, 2020, Jackson entered Clay County drugstore at the intersection of Blanding Boulevard and Wells Road. He approached the cashier and asked about making change. When the cashier opened the register, Jackson pulled a firearm from his pants pocket and pointed it at the cashier’s face. Jackson then leaned over the counter, reached into the cash register drawer, and took all the cash from the register. He then exited the store and fled the scene in a red Ford Ranger pickup truck. Jackson was identified by fingerprints he left at the scene; a container later found that held the clothing he wore during the robbery; and a positive match to the truck he drove away in.

The case was investigated by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office and was prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Richard Natto and Hector Murcia Bustos.
