State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces that a Duval County jury found Bryan Brown guilty of Attempted Second-Degree Murder with a Weapon, and Armed Burglary with Assault/Battery. With the verdict, Brown faces up to life in Florida State Prison. The Honorable Mark Borello will sentence Brown at a later date.

On the afternoon of Aug. 22, 2025, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office responded to a Community Road residence about an assault with injuries. When they arrived, they were given Brown’s name, physical description, and that he had fled west. Officers saw Brown on a tricycle several blocks away and he identified himself after being stopped. The victim said Brown hit him on the head with a bat and witnesses told officers they heard loud screaming before seeing Brown kick open a front door of the house. Witnesses said they then saw Brown drag the victim by his hair and grab a bat before hitting him several times. He then chased the victim into a neighbor’s yard where he continued to beat the victim. When a witness pointed a gun at Brown and told him to stop, Brown did and walked away. The witness then called police.

The case was investigated by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Joseph Ciliberto and Justin Asbrand.
