State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces that a Duval County jury found Robert Jackson guilty of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. With the verdict, Jackson faces up to 15 years in Florida State Prison. The Honorable Anthony Salem will sentence Jackson at a later date.
On April 28, 2023, members of the Florida/Caribbean Regional Task Force were attempting to arrest Jackson on a warrant from Columbia County for murder. When Jackson walked out of a San Marco hotel, Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team arrested him. Jackson had a bag slung across his body when he was arrested. After the arrest, a detective searched the bag and found a firearm with an extended magazine inside. Jackson is a previously convicted felon and is not legally allowed to possess a firearm.
The case was investigated by Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and was prosecuted by Lee Wingard Jr. and Jalisa Curtis.
