State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces that a Duval County jury found Domnique Wilkerson guilty of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon; Battery; and Assault. With the verdict, Wilkerson faces up to 30 years in Florida State Prison. The Honorable London Kite will sentence Wilkerson on a future date.

On Aug. 9, 2023, the victim drove Wilkerson to a home on Angol Place on the Westside of Jacksonville. During the drive, Wilkerson punched the victim several times in the face. The victim’s glasses fell off her face, and she stopped the truck and told Wilkerson to get out. As she bent to pick up her glasses, Wilkerson punched her multiple times in the back of the head. She drove him to the home on Angol Place and, once they arrived, Wilkerson took the keys out of the ignition and ran inside the residence. Wilkerson came back outside armed with a metal pole and struck the victim multiple times in the arm and head. Wilkerson threw the victim’s keys and when she bent down to get them, Wilkerson struck her in the head three times with a firearm. When she turned around to defend herself, she saw Wilkerson holding the handgun. The victim drove away and filed a police report a few hours later.

The next day, officers with Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office’s Community Problem Response Unit pulled Wilkerson over to arrest him for the battery. During the traffic stop, officers recovered a gun. Wilkerson is a previously convicted felon and is not legally allowed to possess a firearm.

The case was investigated by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and was prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Corie Posey and Ju Young Jang.
