State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces that a Duval County jury found Colen Everson Jr. guilty of Possession of Controlled Substance, Possession of Cocaine, and No Motor Vehicle Registration. Following the verdict, the Honorable Anthony Salem sentenced Everson to five years in the Florida State Prison.

On April 30, 2026, a patrol officer witnessed Everson roll through a stop sign at 3rd and Hubbard Street. The officer drove behind the vehicle and noticed it did not have a license plate. A traffic stop was conducted, and Everson handed over a Florida ID but admitted he did not have a driver’s license. Everson’s car had a strong odor of marijuana, and the officer had him step out of the vehicle. The officer conducted a probable cause search of Everson’s car and found several pills in plastic baggies and what appeared to be a crack cocaine rock. After testing was done by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, the pills were confirmed to be Oxycodone and the rock confirmed to be cocaine.

The case was investigated by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Fallon Hinkley and Rachel Duckworth.
