State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces the Honorable London Kite sentenced Chase Robison (life in Florida State Prison), Tarek Randolph (40 years in FSP), and Sydney Buhl (20 years in FSP) for the May 2022 murder of Devante Jackson.

Each of the defendants previously pleaded guilty to Second-Degree Murder. Robison also pleaded guilty to Attempted Armed Robbery, Armed Burglary, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. Randolph also pleaded guilty to Attempted Armed Robbery with a Firearm and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.

On May 15, 2022, Robison, Randolph, and Buhl executed a plan to rob a condominium on Jacksonville’s Westside. Buhl staged a distraction by knocking on the door. Surveillance video shows as she waited for the door to open, Robison and Randolph hid in close proximity while wearing black hoodies and masks. When someone opened the door, Buhl went inside to case the apartment. As she did, Robison and Randolph moved closer to the front door. Witnesses said that when Buhl left through the front door, Robison and Randolph rushed in armed. After he gained entry, Robison fired his weapon and killed Devante Jackson, who was at the residence visiting friends and playing video games. After the shooting, Robison, Randolph, and Buhl fled the scene together.

The case was investigated by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and was prosecuted by Chief Assistant State Attorney L.E. Hutton.
