Illegal Alien Sentenced to 45 Years for Molesting Child

State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces that the Honorable L.E. Hutton sentenced Bersiam Diaz Portillo to 45 years in Florida State Prison for three counts of Lewd or Lascivious Molestation, Child Abuse, and Domestic Battery. Diaz Portillo previously pleaded guilty to the court for his charges.

On June 11, 2025, Diaz Portillo molested an 8-year-old girl in her family home, while the victim’s sister witnessed. The victim’s sister ran to her mother, who was in another room caring for an infant child, to get help. When the victim’s mother entered the room, she saw Diaz Portillo molesting her child. She intervened immediately and grabbed Diaz Portillo off her daughter and the bed. Diaz Portillo responded with violence, shoved the mother into the doorway, and ripped her shirt. Diaz Portillo fled the scene and was later arrested. Diaz Portillo is illegally in the United States and is scheduled to be deported to Mexico after he serves his sentence.

The case was investigated by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by Assistant State Attorney Daley Pajcic.
