Jury Finds Jones Guilty of Selling Cocaine to Undercover Detective

State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces that a Duval County jury found Shateak Jones guilty of Sale or Delivery of Cocaine. With the verdict, Jones faces up to 15 years in Florida State Prison. The Honorable Mark Borello will sentence Jones at a later date.

On April 6, 2025, officers with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office were undercover at a Baymeadows gas station. One of the undercover officers started talking with Jones and the conversation then went into discussion about narcotics. Jones told the undercover detective he could get crack cocaine for him. Jones got into the undercover detective’s vehicle and directed detectives to a motel off Dix Ellis Trail. Jones got out of the car and went inside a room. When he returned to the car, Jones said he needed to wait for a dealer to show up and directed the detectives away from the motel. When they returned to the motel, a woman came out of a room and walked over to Jones as he was sitting inside the undercover car. Jones gave her $20 he had received from the undercover detective, and the woman handed over the narcotics to Jones, who then handed it to the detective. The narcotics were sent to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement for analysis, and results came back positive for cocaine.  

The case was investigated by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Vanessa Wheeler-Sanchez and Ross Wade.
