JOSEPH, BOBBI WHITE SENTENCED TO COMBINED 80 YEARS FOR 2015 CLAY COUNTY MURDER

State Attorney Melissa Nelson today announces that Joseph and Bobbi White, of Clay County, pleaded guilty to Second-Degree Murder, Armed Burglary, Armed Robbery, and Arson. Per terms of the plea agreement, the Honorable Michael Sharrit sentenced Joseph White to 45 years in Florida State Prison and Bobbi White to 35 years in Florida State Prison during a May 14, 2021, hearing.

On Dec. 15, 2015, members of the Clay County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to an area of Nolan and Ellis Ford roads to conduct a death investigation. The victim, Corey Lane, was found inside a severely burned vehicle. The victim and vehicle were quickly identified as being reported missing in Duval County. An autopsy on Lane revealed he had been fatally stabbed and his death was ruled a homicide. An investigation revealed the Whites were acquaintances with Lane and regularly saw him, including the day of Lane’s murder. A search warrant was executed on a Middleburg residence. Both Joseph and Bobbi White were detained for questioning, where both provided several inconsistent stories about their involvement in Lane’s death. Detectives collected Lane’s cellphone, wallet, bloody clothes and bloody knife, a hammer, large sum of cash, and a bloody floor mat from Lane’s vehicle. The two were then arrested by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.

The case was investigated by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by Assistant State Attorney Jonathan Sacks.
