CLEMONS FOUND GUILTY OF POSSESSING FIREARM AS A FELON
State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces Donald Clemons., of Jacksonville, was found guilty by a jury of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. Clemons now faces up to 30 years in Florida State Prison as a Habitual Offender. The Honorable Gilbert Feltel will sentence Clemons during a June 21, 2021, hearing.
On April 24, 2020, Clemons and a witness were at a Beach Boulevard auto shop while the business worked on the witness’ vehicle. Clemons and the victim, who worked at the business, got into an argument that escalated when Clemons pulled out a revolver and pointed it at the victim, who told coworkers to call police. Clemons then fled the scene in the car the business had worked on. An investigation corroborated the victim and several witnesses’ accounts of Clemons’ actions, which also were partially caught on the business’ video surveillance. Clemons was previously convicted of a felony and was ineligible to possess a firearm. A warrant was issued for his arrest, and he was subsequently arrested May 15, 2021.
The case was investigated by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Laura Dadowski and Coreylyn Brown.
