DICKERSON FOUND GUILTY OF ARMED ROBBERY, SOLICITATION TO COMMIT MURDER AND/OR KIDNAPPING
State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces that Daniel Christopher Dickerson, of Jacksonville, was found guilty by a jury of Armed Robbery and Solicitation to Commit Murder and/or Kidnapping. He also pleaded to the court on a Tampering with a Victim/Witness after the verdict. Dickerson now faces a maximum of life in Florida State Prison. A sentencing hearing is scheduled before the Honorable Angela Cox the week of May 20, 2019.
On Oct. 16, 2015, the victim was walking in an alleyway to a Riverside bar when Dickerson approached him with a firearm and demanded he empty his pockets. A co-defendant appeared behind the victim as he handed Dickerson his belongings. Dickerson then searched the victim’s pockets and found additional cash. After finding the money, Dickerson pointed the gun closer to the victim’s head and told him he should shoot him. Dickerson and the co-defendant then fled down the alley and the victim alerted nearby officers to provide detailed descriptions of both. The officers located Dickerson and his co-defendant walking near an intersection a short distance away. Officers found the victim’s lighter on Dickerson and the victim’s cash on the co-defendant. The victim was able to identify both men.
While in custody, Dickerson wrote letters to a friend and provided the victim’s address for the purpose of finding and killing him. Those letters were intercepted by law enforcement. In another instance, Dickerson was recorded asking another inmate to assist in arranging a hit on the victim.
The case was investigated by Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and is being prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys William Grauel and Annie Maguire.
