DUVAL COUNTY JURY FINDS ALBERTIE GUILTY OF TRAFFICKING DRUGS

State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces that a Duval County jury found Keith Albertie guilty of Trafficking in Substituted Cathinone; two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance; and Possession of Controlled Substance Paraphernalia. With the verdict, Albertie faces up to 41 years in Florida State Prison. The Honorable Lindsay Tygart will sentence Albertie at a later date.

On November 15, 2022, an officer with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office was on patrol on Phillips Highway when he saw a black Volkswagen with heavily tinted windows. The officer pulled the car over and identified the driver as Albertie. The officer smelled an odor of marijuana coming from the car, and Albertie admitted he smoked marijuana earlier. The officer asked Albertie to step out of his car for a search; the officer found two digital scales with drug residue and cash in the center console. While searching Albertie, the officer found a clear bag of drugs containing narcotics packaged in smaller baggies for sale. One of the baggies contained an amount of drugs that constitutes trafficking.

The case was investigated by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Ashleigh Bateh and Michael Eckhart.
