WILLIAMS FOUND GUILTY OF 7 COUNTS OF ATTEMPTED SECOND-DEGREE MURDER
State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces that Danny Williams was found guilty by a jury of seven counts of Attempted Second-Degree Murder and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. Williams now faces up to life in Florida State Prison with a minimum mandatory of 25 years. The Honorable Mark Borello will schedule a sentencing hearing for Smith the week of March 21, 2022.
On Aug. 25, 2019, Williams and a woman began arguing in front of a home on West 11th Street. That argument turned physical when Williams hit her several times, which caused a witness to come to the woman’s aid before he returned with his family to a nearby home. An hour later, Williams was in the roadway near the witness’s home and yelled that he was going to shoot them. The witness and his family were in a front yard when Williams began shooting a firearm at them, causing them to run back inside. One of the bullets struck the witness’s wife in the leg, with other bullets striking nearby vehicles and a house. Several people identified Williams as the shooter in a photo lineup. Williams was previously convicted of a felony in 2018 and was unable to possess a firearm.
The case was investigated by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Rachel England and Brooke Gasson.
