CLAY COUNTY JURY FINDS RANDELSTON GUILTY OF ATTEMPTED MURDER
State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces that Kyle Randelston was found guilty by a Clay County jury of two counts of Attempted Second-Degree Murder, Attempted Manslaughter, and Shooting Into a Dwelling. With the verdict, Randelston faces up to life in Florida State Prison. The Honorable Steven Whittington will sentence Randelston at a future hearing.
During a teenager’s birthday party April 10, 2020, a fight broke out among several young men — pushing, shoving, and a few punches thrown. Randelston’s friend was one of the ones involved and, in response, he became aggressive toward one of the females who was supervising the party. In response, the woman slapped Randelston who then pulled out a gun and fired into the crowd of teenagers. Two young men were shot and were hospitalized. Randelston then fled the scene and was later found at his house with the firearm; he was subsequently arrested.
The case was investigated by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office and prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Jamie Cona and Val Avanesov.
