JURY FINDS MCCOY GUILTY OF BURGLARY AND GRAND THEFT AUTO

State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces that a Duval County jury found Keith McCoy guilty of Burglary and Grand Theft Auto. With the verdict and because McCoy is a Habitual Felony Offender, McCoy faces up to 10 years in Florida State Prison. The Honorable Mark Borello will sentence McCoy at a future hearing.

On Nov. 27, 2022, McCoy broke into a CSX facility and drove a Ford F-150 around the property. McCoy was seen entering and exiting multiple vehicles before driving the Ford F-150 around the facility. A witness saw McCoy drive around the lot before he exited the truck and left the facility. Officers with Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office arrived on scene and detained McCoy a short distance from the business. Video from the business captured the incident and the witness positively identified McCoy at the scene.

The case was investigated by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and was prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Megan Sowell and Aaron Appiah.
