CAMPFIELD FOUND GUILTY OF ARMED CARJACKING, ARMED ROBBERY

State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces that Randy Campfield was found guilty by a jury of Armed Carjacking and three counts of Armed Robbery. Campfield now faces up to life in Florida State Prison. The Honorable London Kite will sentence Campfield the week of April 18, 2022.

On Dec. 14, 2019, members of the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a Northwest Jacksonville intersection in reference to an armed carjacking. The victims told law enforcement they were at a nearby party when they offered to give Campfield a ride. While sitting in the car, Campfield and two co-defendants pulled out handguns and told them it was a “stick up.” Campfield and co-defendants stole the victims’ cellphones, shoes, and other assorted belongings before stealing the car and driving north on Moncrief Road. A patrol officer later saw the car with no lights on driving at a high rate of speed before it ran a stop sign. The officer conducted a traffic stop and saw a black handgun on the floorboard and called for backup. Campfield and the other co-defendants were arrested. It was determined they were the carjacking suspects, which was confirmed by positive identification by the victims.

The case was investigated by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and was prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Joel Cooper and Lauren Anderson.
