SLADE PLEADS GUILTY, SENTENCED TO LIFE FOR ATTEMPTED MURDER, BURGLARY
State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces that the Honorable Jonathan Sacks sentenced Nathaniel Slade to life in Florida State Prison for Attempted First-Degree Murder, Armed Burglary, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. Slade pleaded guilty to the court Jan. 8, 2024, on all charges.
On Dec. 22, 2021, Slade texted the victim asking him for a ride to an ATM, with the intention of robbing him. The victim picked up Slade and his girlfriend and brought them to the ATM. As the victim was dropping them off near the Paxon neighborhood, Slade pulled out a firearm and shot the victim three times. Slade and his girlfriend rummaged through the victim’s car looking for items to steal. Slade then walked around to the driver’s side of the vehicle and shot the victim again. Slade and his girlfriend ran off, leaving the victim to die. A 911 call came hours later reporting an abandoned vehicle. Officers with Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office responded and found the victim in the car — still alive — with two gunshot wounds to the head. The shooting was captured on video, and Slade’s location was corroborated by forensic evidence and testimony from Slade’s girlfriend.
The case was investigated by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and was prosecuted by Assistant State Attorney Brooke Milo.
