WILLIAMSON PLEADS GUILTY TO FELONY BATTERY IN GAS STATION ALTERCATION

State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces that Kevin Williamson entered a guilty plea to one count of Felony Battery stemming from a May 16, 2022, altercation at an Arlington gas station. The Honorable Lindsay Tygart will set a scheduling hearing during the week of Jan. 4, 2024.

On May 16, 2022, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office responded to a University Boulevard gas station in response to a battery that occurred. Williamson entered the gas station while disparaging a customer in the parking lot then proceeded to engage in a verbal altercation with a separate customer — the victim — inside the store. Williamson and the victim continued arguing in close quarters near the cash register. During the argument, Williamson proceeded to punch the victim once in the face before he moved in to deliver more strikes. Surveillance footage from the gas station confirmed the encounter and series of events that culminated with Williamson committing the felony battery.

Williamson’s initial misdemeanor battery arrest was upgraded to a filed felony battery charge after a review of the facts in the case and Williamson’s criminal history.

The case was investigated by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and was prosecuted by Assistant State Attorney Octavius Holliday.
