DUVAL COUNTY JURY FINDS JACKSON GUILTY OF MURDER OF DANICA ODOMS

State Attorney Melissa Nelson announces that a Duval County jury found Javarius Jackson guilty of First-Degree Premeditated Murder and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. With the verdict, Jackson now faces life in Florida State Prison without the possibility of parole. The Honorable Tatiana Salvador will sentence Jackson the week of May 22, 2023.

On June 2, 2018, Jackson arrived at 1035 W 15th St. pushing a motorcycle. He approached the victim, Danica Odoms, and confronted her about money and other items. Jackson removed a handgun from his waistband and shot Odoms multiple times. Odoms was taken to UF Health Jacksonville and pronounced dead. Several witnesses provided information about Jackson’s physical description, nickname, and social media activity.

The case was investigated by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and was prosecuted by Assistant State Attorneys Chyna Makarowski and LaTesha Campbell.
